Discovery is useful only when it closes the loop. TikFlick measures a successful room by the decision at the end, not by how long people keep swiping.
The rule is stated up front.
Unanimous, majority, veto-safe, weighted and wildcard modes have different trade-offs. The room should never swap between them invisibly.
A match is not the result.
Matches become a shortlist. The session counts as complete only after the group explicitly confirms one title.

Honest by design
What TikFlick does—and does not—know.
Movie metadata and artwork come from TMDB. A room can filter discovery candidates, but it must not imply that a title is available on a streaming service without real country and provider filters.
- Room identity
- A short code and a display name are enough for an anonymous decision. Raw personal preferences should not appear in public results.
- Provider claims
- Discovery mode makes no streaming-availability claim. Service filtering requires a country and actual provider IDs.
- Decision state
- Joined, voting, shortlisted and selected are different states. The interface should say which one the room is in.

What TikFlick does, in plain terms
- What is TikFlick?
- A no-sign-up way for a group to decide on a film. The host sets the hard limits and one consensus rule, shares a six-character code, everyone reacts privately in their own browser, and the room ends when a single title is deliberately confirmed.
- Do we all need accounts?
- No. There is no sign-up and nothing to install for the host or the participants. A display name is enough, and rooms stop accepting activity after 24 hours.
- How does it decide what the group watches?
- You choose the rule before anyone votes: unanimous, majority, veto-safe, weighted, or one wildcard each. The room applies your hard constraints first, then turns private reactions into a shortlist under that stated rule. It never switches rules mid-room.
- Can it tell me what is on Netflix or Disney+?
- Only inside a room where you have set a country and chosen providers, in which case each candidate is verified against that country’s watch-provider data from TMDB. TikFlick does not publish a static “best on Netflix” catalogue, because availability differs by country and plan and changes constantly.
- Are my votes visible to the rest of the group?
- No. Individual votes stay private. The room exposes only participant presence, aggregate outcomes, matches, the shortlist, and the final selection, so nobody has to defend a rejection.
- We already have a shortlist and still cannot choose.
- Use the movie decision maker. It settles two to eight titles you have already named with head-to-head comparisons, a knockout bracket, or an audited draw, entirely in your browser.
