Random movie picker

One honest random pick, without pretend filters.

For a fast solo decision, choose a genre and era that the catalogue really applies. TikFlick draws from the current returned batch and tells you exactly what the random result represents.

A random result is selected only from the current TMDB-backed discovery response. No streaming provider, rating threshold or runtime limit is implied.

Live solo picker

Draw from filters the catalogue actually supports.

Genre and era are applied by the movie feed. TikFlick then uses browser cryptography to choose one item from the returned batch; it is not a uniform draw from every movie ever made.

Choose a starting state

Bring a random starting point into a fair room.

These group presets use explicit genre IDs and release-year windows. The labels are human-friendly; the constraints remain visible and editable in setup.

From room to result

Fast does not have to mean opaque.

  1. 01

    Use real filters

The solo picker sends only genre and era values that the existing movie feed implements.

  2. 02

    Draw locally

One item is selected with browser cryptography from the returned discovery batch, not from an invented master list.

  3. 03

    See the source context

The result links to its movie page and identifies the TMDB user score without claiming service availability.

Use it deliberately

Know what this random picker can and cannot promise.

Randomness is only useful when the candidate set is clear. A genre-and-era draw answers a quick solo question; a shared room is better when several people need a defensible result.

Current candidate batch

The picker draws from up to 20 items returned by the current discovery request. It is not uniform across all TMDB movies.

No fake rating filter

Rating and runtime controls are absent from the solo draw because the current feed endpoint does not enforce them.

Errors stay visible

If the catalogue is unavailable or returns no candidates, the picker shows a stable error state and keeps your filters.

Groups get rules

Move the same supported filters into a room when the outcome should reflect more than one person.
